Annual Award Celebration
 

We are excited to invite you to CEJ's 2023 Annual Award Celebration on Thursday August 31st, from 5:30-7:30pm at The TriMain Center (2495 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14214). Please join us in honoring the Orchard Park Veterinary Center Workers, Andrew Marcum, and Donna Latham Edwards for their work in the workplace and community!

This has been another year of growth for the Coalition for Economic Justice. Buffalo Transit Riders United (BTRU) had a long fought legislative win and has fostered power in coalition efforts. Buffalo Mutual Aid Network (BMAN) has been refining the Snow Brigade to make it more efficient and joined BTRU in the policy fight for Municipal Sidewalk Snow Removal. We continued to stand tall with our labor siblings at picket lines and strategic planning meetings. CEJ was also awarded a large sum of money to further delve into the work of workforce development, specifically supporting community access to pre-apprenticeship programs and union based job training in the area. We are excited to be recognizing the tenacious efforts of the OP Veterinary Medical Campus workers, as represented by CWA 1168. As well as Andrew Marcum for all of the work he has done with and for the disability self advocacy community with the Center for Self Advocacy, and as a steadfast leader of BTRU since its early days. And finally, Donna Latham Edwards for her amazing, truly grassroots community efforts in food justice on the Eastside of Buffalo, ensuring everyone has access to healthy foods.
